Mediterranean by heart. Parisian by birth. New Yorker by choice. Latin by soul. Pascalito (Pascal Sabattier) is a NYC-based French vocalist, songwriter and leader of Neostalgia, a world jazz band featuring two vibrant Brazilian accompanists, pianist arranger Luiz Simas and acoustic bassist Leco Reis. Influenced by his North African and Spanish Jewish heritage, Parisian upbringing, South American escapades, and by his adoptive New York City where he has spent most of his adult life, Pascalito is a truly international artist. His eclectic and timeless repertoire showcases inspired compositions, imaginative covers and heartfelt interpretations in both English and French. Blending pop, jazz, bossa nova, chanson, swing, flamenco, noir-ish night music, tango and more, he has been praised for his "handsome voice" (Time Out), “sensual sound” (Amazon) and “luxuriant musical melting pot" (Jazz Times). His style can suggest influences from artists as various as Caetano Veloso, Chet Baker, Michel Legrand, Aznavour, Gainsbourg, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Claude Nougaro and Henri Salvador. Pascalito’s licensed original works have been featured in the popular cable TV shows Burn Notice (USA), Damages (FX) and NCIS Los Angeles (CBS).

Born Pascal Sabattier, in Paris, to a musical family of Sephardic ancestry, Pascalito relocated to New York in the late 90’s and started an independent musical career in parallel with a business risk analyst job in the financial services industry. He has since emerged as a promising talent on the local jazz and world music scene performing at such venues as Poisson Rouge, Kitano, Metropolitan Room, Something Jazz and French Institute. As a solo artist, Pascalito produced and released two prior studio albums: Le Blues d'Orphée (2007) and Neostalgia (2011) that both gained international radio airplay and received positive press reviews including a raving editorial in Jazz Times Magazine.

Tonight will be the official US release of his new CDs with Neostalgia: Citizen Chanteur, performed, recorded and filmed live right here at the Metropolitan Room, and also Forbidden Colours (EP) a disc engineered during a live video session at the Grammy-award winning Bennett Studios. The albums already enjoyed a successful European preview this past summer with a sold out engagement at Sunset Sunside, one of Paris most renowned jazz clubs. A free CD package will be offered with the purchase of one admission ticket. This one-night-only performance is not to be missed as the dual French American citizen will be soon repatriating to Europe after 16 years of New York life.

Press quotes from prior releases:
“Handsome voice … smooth-rolling band”  (Time Out - New York)
“Light, rich voice, at once a fine pop-jazz stylist and a super storyteller”  (Jazz Times)
“A melting pot of delicious musical morsels from around the world” (All About Jazz)
“A pleasant voice that recalls Aznavour and Caetano Veloso with a hint of Chet Baker” (Jazz Chicago)

This one-night only performance is therefore not to be missed!
