Sylvie brings life to Piaf and  Chevalier in Metropolitan Room

Who can know better than a French chanteuse how to show you the dreamy pleasures of Edith Piaf and Maurice Chevalier? Sylvie Boisel, the vocalist who won acclaim for her impeccable tributes to Piaf, is including a tender collection of songs from the man who sang “Thank Heaven for Little Girls.” When performed by Ms. Boisel in her powerfully poignant style, these are not just “oldies.” They come alive with trembling passion!
The well-known and much-respected Sylvie Boisel has absolutely perfected a tribute to Edith Piaf, one that has received much attention and adoration in her native France as well as in other countries. In Australia, she was selected to sing Piaf songs at the Film Festival of Sydney for the premiere of the film “La vie en rose” with an audience of over 1,500 people; she sang for the Prime Minister as well. Her songs are played and she performs live on international radio and talk Success has come to her again. Now she is bringing her performances in the true and traditional chanson style to New York City. She passionately takes it back to its roots, remember and honoring Piaf’s simple origins – this time with the sentimental addition of touching Maurice Chevalier classics.
The Metropolitan Room has gained a reputation as a premier jazz club, and has hosted the highest quality performers of our time. Give a listen in November, and you will be among the ones who can say, “Yes, I Remember It Well.”
“Sylvie Boisel has a way of connecting with the music of Piaf that is simultaneously moving and inspiring.”  -  Anthony Winter Vocal Instructor MMTA, ANATS, LTCL, AMusTCL
Sylvie Boisel performed a musical program in October 2014 at the Brighton Beach branch of the Brooklyn Public Library that was an unqualifed success.  Ms.Boisel gave a recital of torch songs by the likes of Edith Piaf which enthralled our audience who turned out in great numbers.  Although some of the songs were sung in her native French, the beauty of Ms.Boisel's voice, and her warm delivery struck a universal chord with our ethnically mixed audience.  We would certainly be receptive to a repeat performance by Ms.Boisel at Brighton Beach and I would not hesitate to recommend her to others.  - Steve Stickney, Library Information Supervisor Brighton Beach branch-B24
“Sylvie Boisel is more than a jazz singer, she's a riot. A soulful package full of fun. Between melodies she has you in stitches with laughter. Her tales, that accent, her look - she's non stop entertainment! ” —  Meagan Fitton, Eastside Radio Sydney Australia January 2012, .
