Sandy Bainum Returns to New York: Ever Blondeward

In her terrific new show entitled Ever Blondeward, the beautiful, bubbly, golden-haired Ms. Sandy Bainum pays musical homage to a bevy of fellow blondes: some broads, some bombshells and a delicious diva or two. In this inventive celebration of fair-haired singers of all shapes, sizes, genres and eras, Sandy performs a wide range of songs, originally sung by the likes of movie and theater legends Betty Hutton, Judy Holliday, Rosemary Clooney, Doris Day, June Allyson, Barbara Cook and the blonde that all gentlemen preferred, Miss Marilyn Monroe. Ever Blondeward is a joyful evening, one that will remind us all of our very favorite blonde women of song, including, of course, Ms. Sandy Bainum, who represents all the blondes who came (and sang) before her.

The show is directed by cabaret icon Andrea Marcovicci. Joining the festivities will be Sandy’s award-winning musical director Lanny Meyers, and guitarist Jack Cavari.

Les Traub, of Cabaret Scenes Magazine, in a rave review, wrote that the show’s diverse musical assortment “Required a broad vocal range and the ability to fit comfortably in a number of different styles,” and “Bainum’s rendition of Joni Mitchell’s anthem “… ‘Both Sides Now’ was a tour du force as Bainum convincingly hit the emotions of the lyrics.”

Sandy Bainum is an engaging actress who’s as compelling in dramatic roles as she is delightful in splashy musicals. She’s a stage performer with great style and sophistication, a beauty with a breezy wit – and a voice that soars.

Sandy got her professional start when she was hired for the chorus of David Merrick’s legendary production of “42nd Street” on Broadway and the National Tour, graduating quickly to the plum rule of Annie.  Since her theatrical debut, Sandy has split her time between Washington, DC, where regularly appears in the city’s top theatrical venues, most recently as the title character in Mame, Tessie Tura in Gypsy and Susan in Signature Theatre’s acclaimed production of Company; and Los Angeles, where she appears in musical productions, film and television, including a recent episode of the CBS hit show Criminal Minds and a new web series called Flacks.
