The hit cabaret series Broadway On 22nd Street returns to the Metropolitan Room onJanuary 20th.Broadway On 22nd Street was created by award winning cabaret producer Joseph Macchia.The series brings some of the most talented performers from The Great White Way. Each performer has a mini set as well as performs duos, and group numbers. January will feature Marcus Paul James(Broadways In The Heights,Off Broadway Revival of Rent),Tony Chiroldes(Broadways In The Heights),Will Perez(Dreamgirls,Ugly Betty,)Blanca ...Camacho,(In The Heights),and Courtney Reed(In The Heights). The evening will be musical directed by MAC and Bistro Award Winner Tracy Stark. The series was created so that Broadway performers would be introduced to the world of New York Cabaret. The series is currently in its second season and received a Broadway World Nomination for best cabaret series.
Will Perez has enjoyed performing professionally around the US. Some of his favorite roles played are "Colehouse" in "Ragtime", "Ken" in "Aint Misbehavin", "Tiny Joe Dickson" in "Dreamgirls" & if you didn't blink you'd see him in such shows as "Ugly Betty", "Sopranos" & "Rescue Me"!
Blanca Camacho is a native New Yorker and graduate of NYU whose TV credits include Law & Order, Unforgettable, Blue Bloods, Royal Pains, NYPD Blue, Sesame Street, and Spin City. She was an original cast member of the 2008 Tony Award winning Best Musical "In the Heights" alternately playing Abuela Claudia, Daniela and Camila throughout the show's 3 year Broadway run, and worked with the late Marvin Hamlisch in a workshop of the Alan and Marilyn Bergman musical "Ballroom." Her voice can be heard on hundreds of TV and radio commercials as well as dozens of films and TV series (ie Capote, Boardwalk Empire, Nurse Jackie,The Manchurian Candidate, Sex and the City, Chicago, Philadelphia...) and even animation such as "Dora the Explorer" and the "Ice Age" films. She has recorded dozens of audiobooks and is an announcer for HBO sports. She was even the voice of Chiquita Banana!
One of New York City's busiest voice-over performers, Tony Chiroldes is an original
Broadway cast member of the Tony and Grammy Award-winning musical IN THE
HEIGHTS, as well as Paul Simon’s THE CAPEMAN. Other NYC credits include
SYMPATHY JONES and as a featured soloist in BROADWAY CARES' LATIN
RHYTHMS with Chita Rivera. Regionally, Tony appeared in the first-ever production of
Frank Loesser’s SENOR DISCRETION HIMSELF at Arena Stage [Helen Hayes
Award]. On PBS-TV, Tony appeared as the Royal HulaMouse in MISTER ROGERS’
This son of a Cuban singer and a red-headed actress also performed in Puerto Rico in
the Spanish-language premieres of MASS APPEAL and THE NORMAL HEART - and
founded one of PR's premier theatre companies, Teatruras, which earned him the
“theatrical creativity award” given by the Puerto Rico Critics Circle.
In 1998, he made his New York cabaret debut with CABARET CARAMBA!, nominated
by the Manhattan Association of Cabarets in the category of outstanding male debut.
Cabaret Scenes magazine named him "One of the voices for the 21st Century". Other
cabaret credits include BROADWAY ON 22ND STREET, the CABARET CARES series,
Joseph Macchia's DIVAPALOOZA, 9/11: THE MUSICAL RESPONSE, the CAT'S PAW
PUPPET CABARET, as well as his solo outing DONT BE AFRAID OF HIS PANIC.
Marcus Pal James Marcus Paul James's musical journey began in Brooklyn, New York, where he cultivated a unique perspective as the son of a DJ. He was raised in the church, surrounded by rows of tuned organ pipes, but is equally informed by the Luther Vandross albums his mother would play at home. Marcus is currently a Broadway performer, starring in Tony award winning shows such as "RENT' and "In the Heights" while pursuing his singer/songwriter ambitions
