A prolific lyricist and song-writer, Gies has performed her work to great acclaim in England, Scotland, Germany, and France. UK Jazz Waves host Alan Steadman sums it up: 'At a time when there are many vocalists who think they are jazz singers, it's great to hear someone who really is . . .'
The incomparable saxophonist SHERMAN IRBY is known for his uniquely textured sound and unrelenting swing. Irby has been recognized for his work with Roy Hargrove, Elvin Jones, and Papo Va'zques. He is known for the sound-track of the Woody Allen movie 'Sweet and Lowdown', and has numerous recordings with jazz legends such as Benny Carter, Flip Phillips, Dizzy Gillespie and George Van Eps. Alden teamed with Jeanne Gies to produce her album 'Don't Think Twice', which is noted for the unprecedented gathering of eight jazz guitar greats.
Popular bassist PAUL GILL has lent his solid groove to Gary Bartz, Stanley Turrentine, Louis Hayes, John Hendricks, Diana Krall, and Elvis Costello, among many others.
Jeanne Gies is simply thrilled to unite with Alden, Irby and Gill for a night of musical magic at the marvelous Metropolitan Room.
