“This trio of talent creates a synchronicity of sound that outreaches perfection.”
David Roberts, Theatre Reviews Limited
Recalling the elegance and sophistication of a night out at the Persian Room during the golden heyday of cabaret, PARKER SCOTT, WELLS HANLEY and RUBIN KODHELI bring their virtuosic musicianship and unbridled passion to NO EXPECTATIONS. They will present a show encompassing the musical landscapes of theater, pop, rock, standards and international favorites.
NO EXPECTATIONS (from the Rolling Stones hit) will explore the complexities of love and passion - the twists, the joys and the pains that come with putting your heart and soul on the line. It will include music by Cole Porter, Jimmy Webb, Ricky Ian Gordon, John Bucchino and Jacques Brel. The centerpiece of the show is The Waltz Medley which has music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics from his three major collaborators, Lorenz Hart, Oscar Hammerstein and Stephen Sondheim. Parker, Wells and Rubin will also go to the streets of Paris for inspiration in the songs of Edith Piaf. There will be several arrangements for voice, piano and cello by the late Dick Gallagher.
The show is directed by Bistro Award-winning and MAC-nominated director, GERRY GEDDES.
“Parker Scott just gets better with time. His voice has an even more
distinctive quality and tone which has become uniquely his own.
In No Expectations, Mr. Scott invites the audience in every musical number to forego the “back seat”
and “start dreaming again.” …encourages the listener to “think, feel, and take action.
This is a performance for making the dreams of 2012 the realities of 2013.”
David Roberts, Theatre Reviews Limited
A Maryland native, Parker has been a MAC nominee, and his first collaboration with Wells - Selecting Souvenirs - resulted in a Bistro Award for outstanding recording and performances promoting the CD thrilled audiences and critics alike with honest, elegant and heartfelt interpretations of songs from the Great American Songbook. He possesses a voice critics have hailed, as “seductive”, “velvety”, “sexy”, “glorious” and “hauntingly beautiful”.
“Seductively drawing you in from the moment he starts to sing.
…a truly wonderful singer. …very easy on the ear."
Adam Rothenberg,
Parker’s nightclub appearances include engagements at The Metropolitan Room, Don’t Tell Mama, The Duplex, Danny’s, Eighty-Eights, Somethin’ Jazz Club and guest appearances at Judy’s. He was the lead male vocalist aboard The Silver Whisper and sailed to 38 countries, along the way also giving performances in Camogli, Italy and St. Petersburg, Russia. Parker appeared as John Denver in Bring Me John Denver (directed by Judy Norton of The Waltons fame) at the Granbury Opera House in Texas, where he delighted audiences and critics in a concert of John Denver songs. In New York City, he has sung roles with Chelsea Opera, Opera Slavica and Opera Manhattan. He has performed cabarets in DC, Maine, Maryland, North Carolina and Virginia and on the high seas in the Caribbean, Mediterranean and Baltics.
So come to NO EXPECTATIONS expecting great music, wonderful lyrics and gorgeous arrangements ... you won't be disappointed!
Dressing to the nines is highly encouraged!!!
“He was the epitome of elegance and sophistication.
…it was as if someone lifted the entire room into the clouds.
The tone of his voice was warm, soft and brilliant.”
Danielle Miceli, Cabaret Scenes
