JulieMac and accompanied by Jimmy Horan
JulieMac grew up on the plains of Iowa. Somewhere in those cornfields, she fell in love with theatre…and with every gay boy in the vicinity! She married one (sad beginning), moved to New Jersey, got divorced, met and married her soul mate (happy ending), went through lots of stuff, got a “do-over” at 50, and found her passion…the REALLY HAPPY BEGINNING all over again!
Julie performs cabaret as JulieMac and also stand-up comedy with The Late Shift Comedy Ensemble. She has so many wonderful and talented mentors on this journey including Katelyn Reiter, Julie Madison-Jacoby, Beth Lapides, Helen Baldassare, Rick Jensen, Claude Stein, Margaret Wright (cabaret performer extraordinare and most WONDERFUL human being), Carrie Jackson, and always James (Jimmy) Horan. She has performed at venues throughout NJ, Iowa, Arizona, the Catskills, and NYC, including The Duplex and Laurie Beechman Theater. She participated with Jimmy in his “Love and Other Fairy Tales” to benefit “Cabaret Cares: Help is on the Way” and also in his “High Standards” revue.
It has been said:
“Julie dresses in lace and leather but has a heart of flannel.”
“Her music, in many ways, tells the story of her life, the good, the not so good, and the fabulous.”
“Her music touches us. They are songs we know, comes from the heart”
“Reminds me of Lucille Ball!”
“A little Judy and a little Liza”
And her personal favorite: “I had the best show ever when you sang into my ear (at my husband’s funeral). Love you for that, my lullaby.”
