In many ways, Yuhan Su represents the voice of the new generation of jazz musicians. Her music is innovative, emotional, cerebral and most importantly, always lyrical. Her compositions and improvisations are uniquely hers, marked with an amalgamation of complexity, intensity and emotional resonance. And though she is capable of blistering technique, she always maintaining a sense of melodic lyricism and wonder in her playing.
Vibraphonist Yuhan Su is currently on the artist roster of New York based record label Inner Circle Music, owned by saxophone virtuoso Greg Osby. Yuhan Su also receives the endorsement from Alternate Mode as a featured MalletKAT Artist. In 2012, Yuhan releases her debut album Flying Alone and now tours with her own jazz group. All are refreshingly subtle, consisting of long melodic lines rather than the tight snappy riffs produced by many writers who have been taught composition in college. Their freshness and lack of clichés makes them sound like the work of a more mature composer and promises much for the future from Su. - John Eyles, All About Jazz
