The Competition Spans five Mondays
TRIALS April 1st @ 7PM Top 15 perform 5 contestants are eliminated
QUARTER FINALS: April 15th Top Ten perform 3 contestants are eliminated
SEMI FINALS: April 22nd Top 7 performers are eliminated
FINALS final five perform 3 numbers each
Grand Finale five performers do one final number and previous contestants comeback to perform
What The Winner Receives
The grand prize-winner (to be announced the night of the finale on May 6th) will win a fully produced, monthly booking at the Metropolitan Room for six months, June till December 2013.
Performers may sing to tracks, bring an accompanist, or one will be provided for each round.
Tickets are $15 per person with a 2 drink minimum. We encourage all performers to bring in their own support system to cheer and vote, as the audience vote counts as a percentage of the total vote to advance in the competition.
Trials - 1st Round (April 1st )
The judges and audience score each singer. The scores are tallied at the end of each evening and the top ten move on to the next round.
Quarter Finals (April 15th)
A total of 10 performers compete in the quarter-finals. Each contestant will perform one new song. The judges narrow this group down to seven semi-finalists who will be asked to prepare two new songs as well as a pre-selected common song for the following week. (Contestants are given full license to develop their own individual arrangement and interpretation for the songs chosen.)
Semi Finals (April 22nd )
The seven semi-finalists perform two songs each. Five of the seven contestants will be chosen to move on to the 1st round of finals.
Finals - 1st Round (April 29th )
The five finalists compete in the first round of finals and are asked to sing one brand new song and also repeat one of the three songs sung in the prior weeks. Also a judge will pick a song for them to learn.
Grand Finale (May 6th)
The five finalists return to perform a set of two songs of their own selection.
The top 5 finalists will perform one final song. The judges will score them and the final results will be announced, with the second runner-up, first runner-up and grand prize-winner introduced in that order.The evening will also feature performances from some of the past contestants.
One well-known figures in the New York Drag Queen world will serve as judge, Producer Joseph Macchia will serve as a judge and one to be announced throughout the five-week competition. They will be joined each week by a different celebrity guest judge. In addition there will be a mystery judge throughout the competition.
"New York’s Next Top Drag Queen " will welcome solo performer who sing live only -- Applicants will be pre-screened and approximately 15 performers will be selected to compete. The competition is open to both seasoned and up-and-coming performers who have not played a major engagement at The Metropolitan Room. Performers must be able to compete for the total five weeks of Contest.
