Description: When one speaks of great female pianist-vocalists like Nina Simone, Shirley Horn or Laura Nyro who entered and changed the jazz and soul landscape remarkably, it soon becomes obvious that what unifies them most is not their unquestionable techniques at the piano and the expressiveness of their voices. Most of all, they had a message to deliver. They’re drawing on, representing and putting a very personal interpretation of life into words and music.

No exception for the young pianist-vocalist Olivia Trummer from Germany: Aside from her brilliant piano skills that have been awarded many times both in the field of classical piano as well as jazz piano and a crystal clear, virtuosic voice she has a message: Constantly seeking to beautify the planet by growing understanding, reflectiveness and peace, she draws from a rich imagination, using visual metaphors to open up a space where supposedly contrasts can exist together – melancholy with optimism, exuberance with self-consciousness, true love with irony. She feels allied to artists as diverse as Bill Evans, Carmen McRae, Stevie Wonder, Prince and The Beatles as well as to female bandleaders of the new generation like Esperanza Spalding or Gretchen Parlato who capture the audience with the lightness of performance and most of all the beauty of their artistic soul.

Olivia's performance will include jazz standards as well as her original compositions - modern yet timeless jazz songs which are song oriented, of great clarity and to be filled with honest and pure improvisation. Jazz arrangements of works by J.S.Bach will additionally flavor her solo set, revealing her strong classical background and effortless, organic approach of blending and finally uniting different styles of music.
