To Laura With Love                                                                                 Grace Cosgrove Sings Laura Nyro

"...easily one of the most loving and well-crafted homage shows of the year."Stephen Hanks,

"A CLASS ACT! With finesse and respect for the material, Grace Cosgrove elegantly elevates all she sings when she digs deep, and strikes gold."    -Rob Lester, Cabaret Scenes

Award winning singer, Grace Cosgrove, returns with her Laura Nyro show, the critically acclaimed “To Laura With Love” for 4 very special performances.

Laura Nyro, the innovative singer-songwriter of the 60’s and 70’s is best known for writing such memorable hits as WEDDING BELL BLUES, ELI’S COMING, AND WHEN I DIE, STONEY END and STONED SOUL PICNIC.  And, artists such as The 5th Dimension, Blood, Sweat and Tears and Barbra Streisand had major hits with her songs.

Her pianist is Clifford Carter, who has played for James Taylor, Natalie Cole, Michael Feinstein, and Paul Simon among others. Her guitarist is Jack Cavari, the versatile NYC session and Broadway musician.   Jason Di Matteo, her bass player, has traveled the world with Burnt Sugar, Susan Werner and more.  Margaret Dorn (background vocals) has sung across a broad range of genres with artists such as Celine Dion, Bette Midler, Garth Brooks, Michael McDonald, and Manhattan Transfer.

From the first time she heard Laura Nyro’s music as a teenager, Grace was enthralled and transported by the spirit, passion and poetic storytelling of Laura’s songwriting art, and has been interpreting her songs throughout her performing career.  Never seeking to imitate the Nyro style, she has paid tribute to Nyro by creating her own haunting interpretations, giving the shifting tempos and poetic lyrics of Laura Nyro her own personal touch.

Grace’s CD of the project, “To Laura With Love,” a finalist in the 2012 Broadway World NYC Awards, will be for sale after the show and 10% of the proceeds from the sale of the cd will go to GILDA’S CLUB NEW YORK CITY an organization that provides support for cancer patients and their families.
