Ruth Carlin ~ A Light in the Wndow - Songs of Judy Collins

Dick Sarpola on bass
John Redsecker on drums

Ruth Carlin is a New York born singer-songwriter and poet. In her 20s, Ruth studied acting and singing while performing in children's theatre and Off-Broadway shows.  After a few years, she married,  left NYC, and devoted herself to being a full-time mother to her two children.  During that time, she wrote poetry and began writing songs, eventually participating in the BMI Musical Theatre Workshop as a lyricist.

After years of singing her children to sleep each night, Ruth's passion to sing and communicate through song drew her to the cabaret stage. She has performed at the Laurie BeechmanTheater, The Duplex, Don't Tell Mama, the Metropolitan Room,  and other venues in the NY area. She is at home singing folk, pop, musical theatre, and standards as long as the song serves the purpose of communicating something true. Ruth gets to the heart of a song, makes it her own, and shares it lovingly with her audience.

In 2013, Ruth released her debut CD, Moon Song.
