Harold Sanditen makes his Metropolitan Room debut with his international hit, SHADES OF BLUE.  In his comic and soulful way, Harold not only sings some blues, but also has fun with the variety of meanings the word 'blue' has taken on, using the words and music of Billie Holiday, Dizzie Gillespie, Jon Hendricks, Diets and Schwartz, Neil Sedaka, Stevie Nicks, Dave Frishberg, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Noël Coward and Irving Berlin, to name a few.  This is another sensationally fun evening from this exciting performer.

Directed by Barry Kleinbort, the show has Michael Roulston on piano, Tom Hubbard on bass, Jeremy Clayton on reeds and Susan Aquila on violin.

“It would be hard to imagine anyone feeling blue while enjoying“Shades of Blue”… moving, entertaining and wonderful passion.”  Edie Stokes, TimesSquare Chronicles

“If you like your blues smooth, your performer more musical thanmaudlin, and your jazz club more debonair than dingy, then HaroldSanditen: Shades of Blue is the show for you.”   Tim Macavoy,

“a treat……a blue mood that’s just lovely….some rip-roaring IrvingBerlin numbers – ‘Blue Skies’ and ‘Shakin’ the Blues Away’.”  Michael Darvell,

“Harold Sanditen has a very nice voice - very clean and clear at thetop of his range, nice and rich at the bottom…..’Landslide’ is particularlymoving.” Ben Walters, Time Out London

“there is nothing to compare to Sanditen's rendition of 'Waters ofMarch."   Paul Vale, The Stage

“What strikesthe listener is that Harold Sanditen has thought through each of the lyrics andis pulling every shade of meaning from them.......Harold is having such a goodtime that he makes every show a "mahvellous party"…..sophisticatedand intelligent.”   RuthLeon, Playbill

After 20 years as a London based theatre producer, Oklahoma born Harold Sanditen began singing professionally in 2008, and has never looked back.  Since then he has performed 4 cabaret shows - THE SCRET OF LIFE, LOVE:  EXPOSED, THOUGHTS 'ROUND MIDNIGHT and SHADES OF BLUE, which have sold out venues in London, New York, Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Diego and Palm Springs.    His newest show, SHADES OF BLUE, is primarily jazz and blues arrangements of songs which have some relation to the word blue.

Harold has studied cabaret performance with, amongst others, Andrea Marcovicci, Karen Mason, Barry Kleinbort, Christopher Denny, Shelly Markham, Tovah Feldshuh, Julie Wilson, Sally Mayes, Sharon McKnight, Jason Graae, Alex Rybek, Helen Baldassare and Faith Prince, having attended The International Cabaret Conference at Yale University in 2010 and The Art of Cabaret in 2009.

His theatrical productions spanned the smallest scale off-off productions to large scale commercial ones, in London and New York, including actors Clive Owen, Jessica Lange, Charles Dance, Paul Rudd, Brendan Fraser, Ned Beatty, Felicity Kendal, Frances de la Tour, Celia Imrie, Kathy Burke, Steven Guttenburg and Vanessa Redgrave.  He was responsible for the UK debut of many North American performers and playwrights.

Harold is also the Vice Chairman of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA), the oldest drama school in the UK and one of the best in the world.  Harold holds an MBA from the Wharton School, and was an investment banker at Bessemer Securities Corporation in New York from 1984 to 1987, prior to moving to London.
