Billie Roe returns to the cabaret stage performing in tribute the repertoire of her all-time favorite American singer-songwriter, Tom Waits. Through his music Billie will  examine the real life  'film noir ' events of the dirty, dangerous, and destitute world of New York in 1978' - the year in all her innocence she began her singing career in New York.
New York in 78' was a time where political corruption,  abandoned buildings, graffiti laden subways, widespread poverty, hookers and heroine, gangs, and the cost of the Viet Nam war had all but bankrupted the city - morally and financially.  Creativity thrived with the likes of the disco glam world of Studio 54, the rock world of  CBGB's, The Bottom Line, showcasing groups like The Ramones,  Patti Smith, and that infamous Sex Pistol's bassist, Sid Vicious and his girl, Nancy Spungen who reined supreme as the tragic King and Queen on the NY Punk scene.  Rock, jazz, blues and soulful arrangements  offered up by award winning Musical Director, Tracy Stark all make for an unforgettable evening of cabaret.

Winner of the 2012 Bistro Award and a 2012 MAC nominee for 'Best Female Vocalist' for her highly acclaimed show 'Dangerous Women: Life In Film Noir", Billie Roe is honored to have been chosen as the Metropolitan Room's 2012 "MetroStar Talent Challenge" Winner.

Having played most of the New York clubs in the 70's and early 80's including The Grand Finale, Reno Sweeney's, Trax, The Copa, and Les Mouches where she debuted her acclaimed act 'The Heat Is On' opening for Gloria Gaynor, Billie is delighted to be debuting her new show '1978 NYC UNDERGROUND' at the Metropolitan Room.
Ms. Roe has sung with the San Diego Symphony in a salute to Cole Porter, and has performed in regional theatres throughout the country as a professional actress. As a playwright Billie holds a Masters degree in Playwriting from the Actors Studio Drama School in New York and is dedicated to the exploration of Cabaret as an art form.
Billie Roe Reviews:
"Dangerous Women: Life In Film Noir'  is the machinations of a smooth hand, hard-boiled sense of humor and a winning introduction to the talented Billie Roe". Elizabeth Ahlfors, Cabaret Scenes
'A smartly conceived, expertly executed piece.  The show and Roe's work in it are excellent'. Roy Sander,
'Roes take-no-prisoners contralto-always on perfect pitch - hits every note head on. One of the best shows of the year." Joe Regan, Jr.
'Dangerous Women: Life in Film Noir' - Named in Top 20 pick for 2011 by Stu Hamstra, Cabaret Hotline Online
"Billie Roe gave two of the most unusual performances of the night. An older woman with a huge, but understated, personality performing Lady Gaga’s “Poker Face,” was one for the books. She also sang Tom Waits’s “Martha.” Judges Terese Genecco responded with “terrific!”  Karen Oberlin and Michael Eric Gillett commented on her fantastic acting abilities. Going by audience reaction, Roe was a favorite this night." Danielle Miceli, Nightlife
